[Rockville, Sep 26] - Quantum Space, a trailblazer in the space infrastructure sector, is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a significant contract by the Space Development Agency (SDA). This groundbreaking contract is aimed at advancing commercial orbital maintenance services, with a particular focus on innovative, on-demand commercial disposal assistance.
SDA's mission is to invigorate the space industry by serving as a primary customer for these emerging services, paving the way for a safer and more sustainable orbital environment. By partnering with Quantum Space, SDA is taking steps towards mitigating space debris and ensuring the long-term viability of our planet's orbital assets.
Quantum Space's contract represents an important component of SDA's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) concept, which will require commercially-based space vehicle disposal solutions. In collaboration with industry leaders Maxar and Scout Space, Quantum Space will conduct a study to assess the feasibility and efficiency of its proprietary architecture to enable affordable, on-demand assisted deorbit through this ambitious project.
At the heart of this initiative is Quantum Space's Ranger spacecraft, a versatile multi-orbit, multi-mission platform. The Ranger is designed to revolutionize space operations, offering a suite of industry-leading services including spacecraft deployment, payload hosting, space domain awareness, and, most crucially, on-demand disposal assistance.
